A. McDonald Shoemaker

Andrew McDonald has made shoes in Sydney since 1990, working from a bench in the Strand Arcade. He builds men's and women's footwear in Goodyear-welt and Blake-stitch construction — ready-to-wear, made-to-order, and full bespoke worked around a customer's own last — and is one of the few makers who treats wide fittings as core rather than an afterthought, cutting most styles in standard and wide. He repairs what he makes, and teaches the craft through shoemaking courses run from the workshop.
