Jess Epple opened Firebird Studios in Burleigh Heads after her first session at the wheel convinced her she wasn't leaving. The teaching studio runs wheel-throwing and hand-building workshops across all skill levels, with a roster of teachers whose combined experience spans nearly a century — including Rick Bower, who has been throwing pots since 1980, and Maurice Helm, who spent time building kilns in East Africa.
