Julia works at a bench on the South Coast of New South Wales, setting Australian opals in solid gold and sterling silver using traditional metalsmith techniques. She lets the stone lead, following its colour and quiet flaws rather than a formula, so each piece is made once and not repeated. Lightning Ridge and Winton boulder opals sit alongside dendritic agate and turquoise in hand-hammered and textured settings she makes herself. She sells online, with occasional markets.
