Sturt Gallery & Studios

Winifred West founded Sturt in 1941 on the grounds of her Mittagong cottage, and it has been running ever since. Workshops for wood, weaving, pottery, jewellery, and screenprinting were added one by one across the following decades. The School for Wood, established in 1985, remains the draw — intensive courses in furniture design and making, set among gardens that West herself planted.
